Starling Spur - A New Life

After I posted about the Starling Spur custom bike from a few years back, I got a message from the lucky winner.

It turns out the frame was a bit too big for Graeme, the Starling’s new handler. But he told me that winning this bike, seeing the Starling Factory and my Egerie projects inspired him to make his own replacement front triangle: new gearbox mounts to accommodate a steeper and shorter seat tube and a longer dropper, changed to mullet wheels and a shorter 450mm reach. Built at home and painted in the classic Deere green. Here is the new version, resting against a gate and looking for some loam to plough.

Pretty cool to see such a dream-machine get some further tweaking and tuning to suit the owner perfectly. Plus, it’s great my small business managed to give this away and to have inspired someone to get on the tools and make their own frame!
